Week 2: Paragraph Prewriting Workshop

Q In this discussion, you will practice writing a paragraph that contains a main idea and support. To get started, refer back to Reading Selection 1: "Where Does the Money Go?" (p. 294) assigned in Week 1. Then, in your first post, tell us your main idea for a paragraph in which you will present one piece of financial advice. Your advice can come from the reading or it can come from your own experience (or from advice you have received from others). Later in the week, I will prompt you to add some support for your main idea to create a first draft of a developed paragraph.

Q Please note: • Your main idea should be a complete sentence and not a question. • Do not consult the Internet for financial tips. You may, however, take a look at Reading Selection 2: "Your Credit History" (p. 296) for additional ideas to consider. • Helpful tips: Pages 298–300 will guide you through the process of creating your paragraph, and p. 301 contains a sample paragraph with a main idea and three supporting points that you may find useful as a model.
